Data handling
How Kasel handles your data.
Personal records are saved online so your workspace is available across devices. This page explains what is stored and how it is used.
What Kasel does
- You can explore the public demo without creating an account or connecting a bank.
- You choose which personal financial information to add or import.
- Personal financial details are encrypted by the application server before storage in our online database. The server holds the decryption keys separately and processes records for your workspace. Database inspection exposes encrypted details alongside record IDs, relationships, update times, and usage counts. Account authentication and owner access controls protect access between users.
- You can export your financial records from the workspace.
- You can request deletion of your Kasel account from Settings.
- Receipt images, statement PDFs, and banking screenshots selected for transaction import are read and interpreted locally in your browser. Only transactions you confirm enter your online finance workspace.
- Transaction chat uses a local rule-based parser. It does not download AI models or send chat messages to an AI provider. Chat history is held in memory and cleared when you leave. Only reviewed transactions you confirm are saved to your workspace.
- Kasel reports limited usage counts—such as how many accounts, transactions, budgets, and recurring rules are in a workspace—so the app owner can measure adoption. These counts include your account ID and report time, but never financial values or labels.
What Kasel does not do
- Kasel does not request bank credentials or connect to financial institutions automatically.
- Kasel does not upload, store, or send the source document or its recognized text to an OCR or AI service.
- Kasel does not include amounts, descriptions, dates, account names, currencies, categories, or finance content in product analytics.
